Northmice ApS is a developer and publisher of games including mobile game applications that are made available via app stores such as the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. This policy is designed to share what information we collect and how we use it. If you live in the EU (European Union), we can assure you that our services are provided in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

In the following we may use the term "Services" to refer to our website, social media channels and games.

Please note that we may update this Privacy Policy from time to time without prior notice. If significant changes are made such as material changes to the type of data we collect, we will post a notice in the Northmice Blog on this website and through any of our Services that are affected by such an update. We encourage you to check back every now and then.

1. Why do you refer to "WE"?

Northmice ApS is a solo game development company owned and maintained by Kenni Dahlgaard Mortensen. Please note, however, that any purchases, agreements, signups, support enquiries or any other interactions with this website, games, social media and other services made available through Northmice are between you and the company Northmice ApS - not the individual/person Kenni Dahlgaard Mortensen. That's why this Privacy Policy will refer to Northmice ApS and use the "we" form (plural) - and also because it just sounds a lot more credible. So, here we go.

2. Children’s Privacy

Our games for children, including Miniklub, MiniSchool and Babyklub, do not collect any personally identifiable information or show any third-party advertising. Our games may include our own offers to unlock full or parts of a game such as purchasing the full version. Our games for children may also include cross-promotions for our other games, but only games that are suitable for children.

We do therefore not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from children under 13. In the case that we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we immediately delete this information from our servers. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we will be able to take necessary actions.

3. What information is being collected and why?

None of our games have been designed with the purpose of collecting data about your usage and none of our games secretly (and knowingly) collect such data. Our games are simply made to entertain and educate. With that said, it's difficult to run an efficient games business in today's world without gathering some amount of data or atleast have access to data through partners and service providers. We will, however, not collect any personal data from you unless you provide it under the terms of this Privacy Policy.

In the following we will describe all the situations where we collect or have access to data related to you.

3.1 Personal data we collect directly

Data related to contact/support correspondence on website (name, email, messages)

Whenever you contact us, which is only possible through our contact form or email, we naturally get knowledge of your name, email, message and any other information you share with us. We collect this data in order to process your message and write you a response.

Data related to newsletter signup (name, email and MailChimp)

When you signup to our newsletter, we collect your name and email so we can personalize the newsletter and send it to your email on a regular basis. We use MailChimp to deliver newsletters and therefore store your email and name directly in their system on their secure servers.

3.2 Personal data we have access to via third-party partners

Your interactions with us on social media channels like Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, etc.

As is commonly known, whenever you use social media networks you leave a digital trail. When you "Like", subscribe, comment or in other ways interact with us through social media, we get access to certain information about you. This might be parts or all of your personal profile and we can potentially see who your friends are, your vacation photos, and so forth.

The information you share publicly with us through our social media channels, such as Facebook or YouTube, may be viewed and used by others without any restrictions. We cannot control such uses of your information and therefore, by using such online services, you assume the risk that the personal information you provide may be viewed and used by third-parties for any number of purposes. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of each and every website, social media site and application that you interact with.

With that said, we do not in any way collect, transfer or store any of the personal information you make available to us through social media networks. We may use the different built-in analytics features available on such sites to gain general, aggregated and anonymous information about who interacts with us - but nothing that can identify you in any way.

3.3 Anonymous data we collect directly

Data generated using our games including gameplay usage and statistics

Some of our games might generate anonymous statistics about your usage of our games and store the information locally on your device. In some cases, we may ask if you would be willing to share that information with us to help us improve our games. This information is never transferred to us without your consent and our children's games, including Miniklub, MiniSchool and Babyklub, does not include this feature at all.

Data collected by advertising networks (through ads in our games)

Please see the section 12. Advertising for more information.

3.4 Anonymous data we have access to via third-party partners

Payment data from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store

When you purchase our games or make purchases within our games the entire payment process is handled by a third-party payment processor such as Apple or Google, depending on which platform you use.

We do not collect, transfer or store any data related to payments since this data is securely processed and stored by Apple and Google through their systems and on their servers. We do, however, have limited access to view payment data through Apple's and Google's systems such as sales analytics and order history. Orders do not reveal any personally identifiable information and can only be identified using an Order ID.

Please see the Apple and Google Privacy Policies for more information:

Game analytics through App Store Connect and Google Play Developer Console

Both Apple and Google provide access to anonymous statistics about a game's performance in the respective stores. We use this information to monitor how our games perform such as seeing the total number of installs, installs by country, number of purchases, etc. None of this information is personally identifiable.

Data about your usage of our website (Google Analytics, Cookies)

We use Google Analytics (GA) to gain knowledge about how our website is being used. GA is the de facto standard for web analytics and provide us with features such as impression reporting, demographics, interest reporting and remarketing. GA use cookies and anonymous identifiers to collect information about your usage of our website and to help us (potentially) target advertising. Please note, however, that we do not currently do any remarketing or run targeted ads.

None of the information collected by GA, on our behalf, is transferred or stored outside of GA's secure servers. None of the information collected is (knowingly) personally identifiable.

A note about the "Do Not Track" signal (DNT), which can be set in certain browsers; our website does not recognize this. You can opt-out of Google Analytics by visiting tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. You also have the choice to reject cookies in you browser. All browsers are different, so refer to the help section of your browser to find out more.

For more information about Google Analytics, please visit www.google.com/policies/privacy/partners.

Apart from Google Analytics and being able to store information about your Cookie consent, our website does not currently use cookies.

4. What is the information we collect used for?

We already touched on this in the previous section. Here's a list of things that the information we collect, or our partners collect on our behalf, is used for.

  • Handle contact/support correspondence
  • Send out newsletters
  • Improve our games including gameplay and general user experience
  • Communicate and interact through social media channels
  • Handle payments, purchases and refunds
  • Monitor and research our game's performance on different platforms and stores
  • Monitor and research website usage
  • Show targeted and relevant advertising in games

5. Who might the information be shared with?

In general we share your information with third-parties, who provide services on our behalf, as described in this Privacy Policy.

5.1 Internal

For internal purposes only, we may share your personal and anonymous information with subcontractors.

5.2 Advertisers

With your consent, we may share your anonymous data with advertising networks and their individual advertisers. Please see section 6. Advertising for more information.

5.3 Disclosure for law enforcement and legal requirements

We will disclose your information in response to law, legal process, litigation, or requests from public and governmental authorities both in and outside your country of residence. We may also disclose your information if we determine that it's necessary to enforce our terms and conditions or to protect our operations, users or user experience.

5.4 Change of control

In the event of a merger, acquisition, financing due diligence, reorganization, bankruptcy, receivership, sale of company assets, or transition of service to another provider, we may transfer any and all information we collect (including personally identifiable information) to the relevant third-party as permitted by law and/or contract. We will direct the transferee to use the information in a manner that is consistent with this Privacy Policy.

6. Advertising

6.1 Children's games

First, let's make it clear. We don't show advertising in our children's games, so this section applies to our other games.

6.2 Your options

Currently all our games include the option to purchase an ad-free version for an, in our opinion, fair price. You are therefore in no way forced to see advertising when playing any of our games.

We do, however, offer the option to show advertising in our games, such as banners and full screen video ads, as a way to provide our games for free or at a very low price. You'll essentially pay for our games by watching ads, so in that sense our games are not free since you pay for them with your time and awareness. The choice is yours.

6.3 Data collection by advertisers

The following only applies to those of our games that show advertisements and only if you have given your consent to share such data. Our games always ask if you will allow us to share your information and thereby show you relevant ads. If you don't, you will still see ads, but no data will be shared with advertisers and the ads will be less relevant as a result.

If you consent to share your information, we allow our advertising partners to collect data from you such as demographics, location and device information/identifiers, in order to serve you appropriate and relevant advertisements and to identify your device each time a third-party serves you an advertisement.

We also allow our advertising partners to track performance indicators such as impressions, clicks, and installs through their own tracking systems or third-party tracking providers to measure their advertising campaign performance.

Here's a list of the advertising networks we use in our games. For more information, please refer to their individual terms and privacy policies:

7. Where is my data stored, how long, and what about security?

7.1 Data storage

Even though Northmice ApS is a Danish company, the data we collect and that you provide to us may be stored and processed by third-parties across the globe. Your information may be stored on our own local servers in Denmark, in the cloud, on third-parties servers such as by Apple, Google, MailChimp, and so forth.

7.2 Data transfers and security

Your data may be transferred to and processed in other countries than your own. These other countries may have data protection laws that are different to the laws of your country.

In situations where we receive, collect or must transfer your data from one server or service to another, we will take reasonable steps to ensure that your data is treated securely and lawfully. Security safeguards include using data encryption, limiting access to data to those who actually need it for their work at Northmice ApS and storing personal information in secure systems.

With that said, we cannot and does not guarantee - and does not accept liability for unintentional disclosure. No method of transferring data over the internet, or storing data is perfect or impenetrable. If a security breach should ever occur, that involves your data, we have a legal obligation to notify you. Please, however, keep in mind that we only collect a minimum of personally identifiable information from you such as your name and email, as described previously.

7.3 Data retention

We store collected data for the period of time necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, until required by law, or until you request its deletion. More about this in section 9. Your rights.

8. Regarding links to websites and third-party services

Our website, social media profiles and games may include links to other websites, social media networks or third-party services. Northmice ApS is not responsible for the companies and/or individuals it links to and a link does not automatically mean we endorse them. We encourage you to read the Privacy Policies of each and every website, social media network and application that you interact with. This Privacy Policy does, naturally, not apply to any external website or service that we are not responsible for.

9. Your rights. Accessing, updating and deleting your personal information

We care about the privacy of our users, not only those in the European Union, and aim to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This means that (currently) all our users/players, no matter which country they reside in and which rights they may have (if any), are treated the same in terms of their data rights.

If you have a concern about how we handle your personal information, please contact us first, so we can try to resolve your query.

Please email us at [email protected], if you wish to know what personal data we hold about you, if you want your information updated/corrected, or if you want your data deleted or restricted from our systems in some way. Here's a list of some of the rights that European citizens enjoy as described in the GDPR (and which currently applies to all our users). You can read more about GDPR at gdpr-info.eu.

You have the right to:

  • Withdraw your consent to show personalized ads in accordance with Art. 7, 3. Can be done from Settings in the game you are playing.

  • Correct your data in accordance with Art. 16
  • Have your data deleted in accordance with Art. 17

  • Object how your data is handled in accordance with Art. 21

Please note that limiting our use of your personal data or having it deleted may prevent you from receiving our awesome newsletter, using our website or playing our games. It also makes it impossible for us to refer to previous correspondences. Please also note that it may be necessary to retain certain records for legal and accounting purposes, such as those related to payments.

10. Your California Rights

We do not share your personal information with any third-party for the purpose of direct marketing.

The California Civil Code Section 1798.83, however, permits California residents to request and obtain, from us, a list of what personal information (if any) we have disclosed to third-parties for direct marketing purposes in the preceding calendar year. This includes the names and addresses of those third-parties.

If you have questions in this regard, please contact us at [email protected].
